Fathers Day Gift
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Father's Day is celebrated in Australia today, with the Australian observance falling on the first Sunday in September rather than the June date used in the United States and many other countries.
To mark the occasion, Seventh Ribbon Music is highlighting Dear Dad, an Irish folk ballad written and produced by Jason Bresnehan. Inspired by family, gratitude and the enduring influence of fathers, the song reflects on the words many sons carry for years before finally saying them aloud.
Drawing on the Bresnehan family's Irish heritage and dedicated to Jason's father, Dear Dad celebrates the values that pass from one generation to the next: humility, trust, curiosity, reliability and quiet service to others.

Bullshit Rules Crashes Into the Seventh Ribbon Music Catalogue
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Seventh Ribbon Music has released Bullshit Rules, the first punk rock song in the catalogue of Tasmanian first punk rock song in the catalogue of Tasmanian songwriter and producer Jason Bresnehan. Written after a day of trust deed amendments, compliance requirements, forms, declarations and administrative frustrations, Bullshit Rules transforms bureaucracy into a loud, guitar-driven punk rock anthem built on aggressive guitars, driving drums and a shout-along chorus.
The song explores the growing gap between ordinary people trying to build, invest and create and the increasingly complex systems surrounding them. With more than eighty songs now registered in his catalogue, Bullshit Rules marks Bresnehan's first deliberate step into punk rock and opens an entirely new genre within the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue.

Southern-Southern Nights Opens Another Genre Lane
THADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA, Today saw the release of Southern-Southern Nights, the first dedicated Southern country and line-dance release within the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue.
The song represents another deliberate expansion into a new musical lane. Rather than concentrating on a single genre, the catalogue continues to grow across multiple styles including CCM, Irish Folk, Blues, Country, Synth-Pop, Australian Pub Rock and Rock-n-Roll.
One of the objectives behind the catalogue strategy is simple: learn the vocabulary, audience and songwriting structures of different genres by actively writing within them. Southern-Southern Nights draws heavily on Southern American imagery and culture, reflecting experiences gathered during many years of travelling throughout the United States while working in venture capital and business.
Every new genre expands the catalogue, broadens commercial opportunities and provides another way to tell a story. Southern-Southern Nights is the latest step in that journey.

Touch Base with Me at the Durango Songwriters Expo
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Between the 8th and 10th of October 2026 I'll be heading to Colorado to attend the Durango Songwriters Expo, one of the best-known songwriter development and networking events in the United States. The Expo attracts songwriters, publishers, music supervisors, A&R representatives and industry professionals from across North America.
My objective is simple. Listen, learn, build relationships and continue developing the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue. Songwriting is a craft and there is always something to learn from people who have spent years working in publishing, sync licensing, artist development and commercial songwriting.

Swinging the Bat
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA, Yesterday saw the release of Swing the Bat, the first song in the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue built around the sound and energy of classic 1970s Rock and Roll. Driven by electric guitars, big hooks and a simple philosophy of action, the song celebrates the idea that opportunities rarely arrive for people who stand still.
The song was inspired by a principle that has shaped much of my business, recovery and creative life: movement creates opportunities. Conversations create opportunities. Songs create opportunities. Relationships create opportunities. Sometimes the only way to discover what might happen is to step forward and take the swing.
That philosophy was reinforced recently while watching songwriter interviews from the Durango Songwriters Expo. One songwriter who stood out was Meghan Trainor, whose comments about songwriting output and catalogue development resonated strongly with my own approach. Rather than waiting for perfection, the focus is on continuing to write, learn, improve and create. Swing the Bat captures that mindset in musical form. Sometimes the ball connects. Sometimes it doesn't. The important thing is stepping into the batter's box and taking the swing.

Completing the Forgiveness Arc
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Yesterday saw the release of Hiding Place, a piano-driven Christian ballad inspired by Psalm 32 and the fourth song in an ongoing Psalm-based forgiveness arc within the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue. Whilst each song stands on its own, together they tell a larger story about repentance, mercy, rescue and restoration.
The journey began with Clean Heart Rising (Psalm 51), moved through Hope in the Depths (Psalm 130), continued with Lifted from the Pit (Psalm 40), and now concludes with Hiding Place (Psalm 32). The arc follows a clear emotional progression, moving from confession and brokenness towards forgiveness, freedom and peace.
One of the most interesting aspects of this project has been maintaining a consistent thematic lane across multiple songs whilst allowing each one to develop its own musical identity. Rather than retelling the same story four times, each song explores a different stage of the forgiveness journey. The result is a connected body of work that demonstrates how songs can work together to tell a larger story.
Hiding Place provides the final chapter. The burden has been acknowledged, mercy has been received, the pit has been left behind and the soul finally finds rest. What began with brokenness ends with peace.

Walking Contradiction
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Yesterday saw the release of Walkin' Contradiction, the first high-energy male vocal pop-rock song in the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue. Drawing inspiration from modern guitar-driven acts and leaning towards the energy of bands such as 5 Seconds of Summer, the song combines punchy guitars, driving rhythms and a fast-moving narrative about attraction, mystery and personality.
The song explores the experience of being drawn towards somebody who refuses to fit neatly into a category. Confident yet unpredictable, polished yet rebellious, approachable yet somehow out of reach, the central character captures the imagination of the narrator precisely because she remains impossible to fully understand.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of writing Walkin' Contradiction was stepping into a new musical lane. Every genre has its own language, energy and personality. While previous releases explored rock, country rock, blues and storytelling formats, this song provided an opportunity to write something brighter, younger and more immediate whilst retaining the character-driven storytelling that sits at the heart of the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue.
Whether the narrator ever works her out remains unanswered. By the final chorus she's still a walkin' contradiction, and he's still trying.

Finding an Australian Pub Rock Voice
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Yesterday saw the release of Port Number Twenty-Five, the first song in the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue written deliberately in the tradition of Australian pub rock. Driven by piano, electric guitars and storytelling lyricism, the song draws inspiration from the spirit of artists such as Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel whilst telling a distinctly modern story about pressure, recovery and asking for help.
The song began with a simple observation about the period between late November and Christmas Day. Family pressures, financial obligations, relationship challenges and personal expectations often converge on the same date, creating the feeling that everybody is trying to reach the same destination at the same time. This idea evolved into the fictional harbour known as Port Number Twenty-Five, with family, friends and recovery becoming the tugboats that help keep a ship safely on course.
Perhaps most significantly, Port Number Twenty-Five represents a new musical lane within the catalogue that embraces the storytelling tradition that has long been associated with Australian pub rock. At its heart, Port Number Twenty-Five is a reminder that arriving safely matters more than arriving in a blaze of glory. Sometimes the strongest thing a person can do is ask for a tugboat before the lean gets bad and they end up in the drink.

Exploring a New Synth-Pop Direction
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Today saw the release of Digital Roses, the first dream-pop and synth-pop song in the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue. Built around shimmering electronic textures, atmospheric production and reflective storytelling, the song explores the relationship between digital identity, self-worth and the search for genuine human connection.
Digital Roses represents a deliberate step into contemporary electronic territory. Drawing inspiration from dream-pop and synth-driven production, the song allowed the catalogue to expand into a completely new musical landscape whilst retaining its focus on strong themes and meaningful storytelling.
The song was inspired by observations about modern digital culture and the way social media can influence self-perception, comparison and personal wellbeing. Rather than focusing on despair, Digital Roses ultimately points towards hope, encouraging listeners to reconnect with nature, relationships, faith and the real world beyond the screen.
More broadly, the release demonstrates the continued growth of the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue across multiple genres. One week may produce a pub rock song, another a Christian ballad, and the next a synth-pop release. The common thread remains unchanged: every song begins with a story worth telling.

Entering the Country Music Lane
HADSPEN, TASMANIA, AUSTRALIA. Yesterday saw the release of Clear Sky Glidin', the first traditional country song in the Seventh Ribbon Music catalogue. Whilst previous releases have explored country rock this song deliberately embraces classic country storytelling, drawing inspiration from front-porch wisdom, acoustic instrumentation and multi-generational life lessons.
One of the most interesting aspects of the release is the introduction of a new genre direction. Rather than focusing on energy or drama, Clear Sky Glidin' delivers a slower, more reflective style built around an older grandfather sharing hard-earned observations with his teenage grandson. The result is a song rooted in conversation, wisdom and lived experience.
The central idea behind the song is simple. Life becomes easier when purpose, identity and movement start pointing in the same direction. The storms do not disappear, but they stop controlling the sky. That feeling ultimately becomes the song's defining phrase: Clear Sky Glidin'.
